Printable ruler at actual size

No ruler at hand? Print one. The page has a centimetre ruler, an inch ruler, a 10 × 10 cm square and the outline of a standard bank card (85.6 × 54 mm), so you can check that your printer prints at true size — and correct it if it doesn’t. Move, resize or add rulers before printing.

A ready-made test page: a centimetre and an inch ruler, a 10 × 10 cm square and the outline of a bank card (85.6 × 54 mm). Print it at 100% and check it with a real ruler or card. Everything can be moved, resized or removed.

Most inkjets can’t print the outer 3–5 mm.

Printer prints slightly too small or large?

Print the page, measure the 10 cm test square (or any 100 mm line) with a real ruler and enter what you measured. Toola scales the next print to cancel the error.

In the print dialog choose “Actual size” or “Scale 100%” — not “Fit to page”, which shrinks everything.

How to use Printable ruler

  1. Step 1: Choose the paper size (A4 or Letter).

  2. Step 2: Download the PDF and print it at “Actual size” / 100%.

  3. Step 3: Check the bank-card outline with a real card; if it’s off, enter the measured size and print again.

Frequently asked questions

Is a printed ruler accurate?

Yes, when printed at 100% — but printers can be off by a percent or so. Lay a bank card on the outline: if it matches, the ruler is accurate. If not, use the correction option and print again.

Why is my printed ruler too short?

The print dialog shrank it to fit the page. Choose “Actual size”, “100%” or “No scaling” instead of “Fit to page”.

Can I make a longer ruler?

Yes — drag its end or type a length. A ruler longer than the sheet is split across pages with glue lines, or switch the paper to landscape.
