📏 1:1

Print an image at its exact real size

Need a picture exactly 12 cm wide, a sewing or woodwork template at 1:1, or a part outline you can lay on the real thing? Add the image, type the size in mm, cm or inches — or click two points on something whose real length you know and Toola scales the whole picture to match. Add rectangles, circles, lines and rulers at true size, choose the paper, and download a PDF that prints at exactly that size. Big layouts are split across several sheets with overlap and glue lines.

Private: your files never leave your device.

Units

Add a photo, drawing or template, then type the exact size you want — or measure something of known length in the picture. Rectangles, circles, lines and rulers print at true size too.

Orientation
mm

Most inkjets can’t print the outer 3–5 mm.

Printer prints slightly too small or large?

Print the page, measure the 10 cm test square (or any 100 mm line) with a real ruler and enter what you measured. Toola scales the next print to cancel the error.

In the print dialog choose “Actual size” or “Scale 100%” — not “Fit to page”, which shrinks everything.

How to use Print at exact size

  1. Step 1: Add an image (or start with shapes and rulers).

  2. Step 2: Type the exact width or height, or use “Set size by measuring” on something of known length in the picture.

  3. Step 3: Download the PDF and print it at “Actual size” / 100% — then check the size with a ruler.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my print come out smaller than the size I set?

The print dialog is probably set to “Fit to page” or “Shrink to fit”. Choose “Actual size”, “100%” or “No scaling”. If it’s still a millimetre or two off, measure the 10 cm test square and enter the result under “Printer prints slightly too small or large?” — Toola corrects the next print.

How does “Set size by measuring” work?

Click the two ends of something in the picture whose real length you know — a ruler, an A4 sheet, a door, a coin — and type that length. The picture is scaled so that distance prints at exactly that length. It’s the easiest way to print a photographed object, pattern or plan at 1:1.

Can I print something bigger than one sheet?

Yes. Make it any size and it’s split across as many sheets as needed, with an adjustable overlap, dashed glue lines and sheet labels (A1, A2, B1…) so you can tape them together. The poster printer starts with this set up.

Will the image be sharp?

Toola shows the print resolution: 150 DPI and above looks sharp at reading distance. Lower values mean the picture is being enlarged beyond its detail.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The layout and the PDF are made in your browser.
