Filament length ⇄ weight converter
Slicers report filament in metres, spools are sold by the kilogram. Convert between the two for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, nylon and more, in 1.75 or 2.85 mm. Weigh a half-used spool to see how many grams and metres are left before you start a long print.

Frequently asked questions
How many metres are on a 1 kg spool?
About 330 m of 1.75 mm PLA, 325 m of PETG and 400 m of ABS. With 2.85 mm filament it’s roughly a third of that.
Why do different materials give different lengths?
They have different densities: ABS is lighter than PLA, so a kilogram of it is longer.
How heavy is an empty spool?
Typically 150–250 g depending on the brand — weigh an empty one of the same brand for the best answer.
