Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The background-removal model is downloaded to your browser once and runs locally. Your photos never leave your device.
Why does the first image take longer?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 84 MB with a modern graphics card, 42 MB otherwise). It’s cached, so later images start immediately.
How fast is it?
With WebGPU (recent Chrome and Edge, and many phones) a photo takes a second or two. On older devices the model runs on the processor and can take 20–30 seconds per photo.
Which photos work best?
Photos with one clear subject — a person, product, animal or car — against a background with some contrast. Fine hair and transparent objects can need touching up.
